The Chamber of Aquaculture as part of its industry engagement ahead of Aquaculture Ghana 2025 visited key stakeholders in the aquaculture industry. Raanan Fish Feed is one of the vibrant fish feed producing companies in Ghana. They focus on creating feed that helps with the healthy growth of the fish and their products have earned trust among the fish farmers in the country. Our visit to Raanan Fish Feed was worthwhile and insightful. Mr. Jacques Magnee, Aquaculture Expert and Commercial Director, provided an in-depth look into Raanan’s operations, covering everything from raw material sourcing to the final product.
Raanan’s decision to establish a processing facility in Ghana was both strategic and forward-thinking. With a firm commitment to sustainable aquaculture, the company identified Ghana’s favorable climate and Lake Volta’s consistent water temperatures as ideal conditions for year-round fish farming, particularly benefiting cage farmers with great potential for other systems of production.
While Raanan currently imports some raw materials, the company is well aware of the challenges this presents. Import costs impact feed prices, but Raanan remains committed to mitigating these effects without compromising on quality. The company upholds strict quality protocols, controls, procedures and processes, ensuring zero tolerance for adulteration. Raanan also maintains a strong partnership with local fish farmers, incorporating their feedback into the feed production process to meet industry needs effectively.

Raanan’s dedication to quality, strategic location, and farmer-focused approach solidify its position as a driving force in Ghana’s aquaculture sector. By prioritizing innovation and addressing supply chain challenges, Raanan is paving the way for Ghana to become a leader in aquaculture. As the company continues to expand its impact, its role in shaping a thriving, sustainable industry grows stronger.
